ATMA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and maintain an organization of qualified and knowledgeable educators of Tango throughout the world and to preserve the authenticity of the Tango dance. To accomplish its mission, ATMA has developed curricula for the teaching of Tango, as well as examinations to accredit educators. The curricula and examinations are based on the Tango Argentino Syllabuses.
Members:
ATMA has the following categories of memberships: Patron, Affliate, Associate,
Licentiate, Fellow, Life & Honorary Members.
Patron: Patrons are "Friends of the Association" who have made a contribution to the Association.
Affiliate: Affiliate members are student teachers in training. Affiliate members must make arrangements to take their exams within two (2) years of acceptance by the ATMA.
Associate (Bronze Level): Associate members are teachers who have passed the Associate exams and all other requirements of ATMA.
Licentiate (Silver Level): Licentiate members are teachers who have passed the Licentiate exams and all other requirements of ATMA.
Fellow (Gold Level): Fellow members are teachers who have passed the Fellow exams and all other requirements of ATMA.
Life: Life memberships are awarded to those have contributed at least 30 years of continuous service to ATMA.
Honorary: Honorary members shall be those who have performed outstanding services to the Association, or persons to whom the Association wished to confer a special honor because of his or her achievements.
